The Les Cheneaux Islands area on Lake Huron is in Michigan's Eastern Upper Peninsula, about 30 miles northeast of the Mackinac Bridge. Les Cheneaux is a series of 36 islands along 12 miles of the Lake Huron shoreline. The many channels, sheltered bays, and quiet coves are sheltered from the Great Lake's winds making it ideal for sailing, boating, canoeing and kayaking. Among the Islands are the old fishing villages of Cedarville and Hessel with modern marinas, restaurants, museums and shopping. This area is truly a boater and fisherman paradise!
The Hessel area has plenty to offer the outdoor enthusiast. There are several championship golf courses within minutes. Hiking, biking trails as will as ATV and motorcycle trails are close by. Fall color touring is fantastic from the woods or water. You can Fish for salmon, walleye, pike, perch and many other species that inhabit the area waters. In the winter months cross country skiing, ice fishing and miles of groomed snowmobile trails await.
